Here at Bike Camping France we are very aware of our carbon footprint and aim to be as environmentally friendly in as many ways as possible.
We take care to use environmentally friendly products and we use low-energy bulbs and non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning products that also includes a biodegradable bike wash for our fleet of bikes!
“Vélo Volt” is a completely self-contained off-grid solar powered shed customised exclusively for bicycles.
“Vélo Volt” offers the cyclist a dry and secure place for parking their bicycle and cycling related paraphernalia, along with a work bench for small repairs; that is the “VÉLO” part.
We understand that your bike is important to you and that you may not want to leave it outside the apartment or leave it in your car.
With “Vélo Volt” we can now offer cyclists an alternative solution!
The “VOLT” part is the capability to charge your electric bike battery and all your bicycle ancillary devices such as a GPS, bicycle lights etc.,
using green energy.
“Vélo Volt” is also equipped with solar battery storage, maximising the power from the solar panels which can act as a temporary source of electricity
during a power outage.
Lastly and importantly, “Vélo Volt” is helping to reduce our carbon footprint with its renewable solar energy capabilities!
Southwest France has a very mild climate, making it a logical choice to harness the sunshine to produce free "green" energy.
All our domestic hot water is generated from solar energy.
Part of our eco-friendly approach, is to use more efficient LED light bulbs along with exterior solar lighting.
We also generate our own solar electricity and will be increasing this side of renewable energy.
We optimise our use of water with water saving devices, low-water shower heads, aerators, and are particularly vigilant about leaks and other water wastage.
With global warming and the longer hot months that we now experience, we water our garden flowers, plants and shrubs with rainwater collected into water storage containers.
It is a fact that human activity creates waste, however, it is up to us to make use of it.
We encourage our guests to recycle by providing information on what is recyclable here in the Gers, and we provide different types of bins including an organic waste bin which is composted for fertiliser.
We also have a dedicated team of chickens who are happy to help with any food waste!
Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to protect the environment. Please use the bins we provide and please do not throw rubbish or cigarette ends on the ground.
It takes many hours of work to maintain the grounds and we do not use pesticides.
Our reward - a varied insect and amphibian population, orchids, wild flowers and lots of lichen!
